Does snooker kit work on a pool cue?

For maintenance tools, yes, with one thing to check: tip diameter. Snooker tips typically run 8mm to 10mm, English pool sits around 8mm to 9mm, and American pool cues are considerably fatter at 11mm to 13mm.

Our shapers and scuffers work across that whole span because they abrade a surface rather than clamping to a fixed size. The tip installer is built as a universal fit for the same reason. The leather tip protector is the one exception, sized up to 11mm, so it suits snooker and English pool but is too small for a typical American pool cue.

Tip tools for pool cues

American pool tips take more punishment than snooker tips simply because the game involves more power. Break shots compress the leather hard, and a tip that has flattened or mushroomed will not hold side, which shows up immediately on position play.

Our shapers restore the dome, the scuffing faces break up the glaze that stops chalk sticking, and the aerator opens up leather that has packed down. A pocket-sized tool covers all three between racks.

Chalk and holders

Round chalk is worth a look whichever code you play. A pool tip is domed like a snooker tip, and a round block matches that curve, so you coat the whole striking surface including the edges rather than grinding a crater in the middle of a cube.

The Griptech formulation suits players using heavy spin, which describes most of American pool. Drytech is the cleaner option if you play regularly on the same table and would rather not carpet it in dust. Both fit our magnetic clip, which also takes the standard square cubes you will find on every pool table in the country.

Gloves for pool players

Gloves caught on in pool long before snooker took them seriously, partly because pool cue shafts are usually sealed with a finish that grabs a damp hand more readily than the traditional bare timber on a snooker cue.
